“Never been robbed, never got my chain took,” raps T.I. on “Aye Aye.” Unfortunately, plenty of rappers couldn’t say that line without being liars.

They way rappers put so much emphasis on their gaudy chains, it should be surprise that stick up kids would scheme on liberating a rapper of his shines. History has shown that plenty of artists have been caught slippin’. Thanks to the wonderful world of the Internet, urban legends about so and so from the hood rocking your favorite chain is not enough. Nowadays that prized chain will be shown off by the thief online.

Not the best look if you’re trying to avoid an indictment, but that common sense and thievery rarely go hand in hand. With news of 2 Chainz allegedly getting robbed, it made us recall 12 examples of rappers who got their chains stolen. Consider this a warning, because anyone can get got–chain snatching is on the rise in BK, after all.

Tru Life is currently serving a bid but back around 2007 he infamously showed off chains he stole from Jim Jones on the Coc@aine City DVD.

Gunplay

At the 2012 BET Hip-Hop Awards, Gunplay got into an incident with some G-Unit affiliates, and his chain was lost in the scuffle. It magically appeared on 50 Cent’s neck while he was bowling in DC.

Back in 2010, Waka got his chain tooken. Continue, it wasn’t the first time.

Yung Berg, again.

This isn’t deja vu. Yet another of Yung Berg’s chain, this time one of Batman, was stolen while he was in UK. Of course the thief posted it on YouTube.

Waka Flocka Flame, again.

A Compton goon claims to have liberated Waka of a few of his chains in 2011. True or not, we’re not clowning anyone with that many face tats b.

Brisco

Back in 2009, Miami rapper Brisco was pistol whipped and his chain was one of the items pilfered from his person.

Young Buck

It wasn’t a rapper that robbed Young Buck. It was the IRS that repossessed his 615 chain, which he claims he brought back. The struggle is real.

Fred Da Godson

The NYC rapper got got for his chain in 2010. Another World Star treat. smh.

Mike Jones

In 2009, Mike Jones said homie he grew up with stole his “Ice Age” chain while he was asleep. So much for “no new friends.”

Yukmouth

In 2010, Yukmouth caught the fade courtesy of Suge Knight and his goons. So of course his chain turned up missing–until someone posted a photo of the piece on Twitter, for sale.
