In an episode of CNBC’s new show Follow The Leader former Def Jam executive and current 300 Entertainment head Lyor Cohen and Young Thug have a heated discussion over his shyness and musical output.
In clips of the show that airs on Wednesdays, Cohen is taking Young Thug out on a promotional tour for his recently released Slime Season 3 mixtape and upcoming Hy!£UN35 [pronounced Hi Tunes] album. Thugger is becoming notorious for bailing on interviews or not really talking much in them, and Cohen sees it as a problem.
“I understand that you’re shy and that you don’t like doing [interviews], but the fact of the matter is your fans actually want to hear from you,” says Cohen in the video.
The suggestion is met with pushback from Thugger and his management, saying that they want to keep his mystique strong and not give fans too much.
The conversation also includes an interesting exchange about Young Thug’s music and how he presents it. Thugger insists that he wants to have 10 number one singles this year, to which Cohen suggests that he stops freestyling and focus on making songs with structure and hooks.
“You just record so many songs and leave then like little orphans out there,” Cohen says.

In a separate clip Cohen and Thug visit Youtube’s corporate offices to get a gauge on how Thugger’s content is performing on the site.
According to the clip, Young Thug has garnered over 500 million collective views on his YouTube page, a number Cohen is obviously pleased with.

But the most intense clip from Follow The Leader is the trailer. In it, Cohen is seen screaming on Thugger to make more songs.
“I know you can make songs,” he says. “I want you to make more of them!”
