Steven “Thundercat” Bruner

Thundercat was on bass guitar during last night’s Colbert Report performance, but he also co-produces on an unreleased Kendrick song entitled “No Excuses,” which is rumored to feature production by DJ Dahi and Sounwave.

Anna Wise of Sonnymoon

Sonnymoon’s Anna Wise held down backup vocals during the Colbert Report session. If her voice sounds familiar, it’s probably because she performed similar duties on the good kid, m.A.A.d city track “I’m Real.”

Terrace Martin

It’s not hard to find Terrace Martin’s name associated with a Kendrick Lamar project. Martin produced the good kid, m.A.A.d city track “I’m Real” as well as “Ab-Soul’s Outro” from Section.80, and he was also on saxophone during the Colbert Report performance.

Flying Lotus

Kendrick tried unsuccessfully to get Flying Lotus’ “Never Catch Me” for his own album. Given Fly-Lo’s presence during the m.A.A.d. short film sessions, it’s a safe bet he’ll assist in some way in the future.

Boom Clap Bachelors

Kendrick and Sounwave sampling Boom Clap Bachelors’ “Tiden Flyver” for “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” set the tone for good kid, m.A.A.d. city. And apparently, Kendrick was enough of a fan to return the favor when members of the Cophenagen-based collective formed Quadron. He guests on the Quadron single “Better Off.”

Digi+Phonics

Tae Beast, Sounwave, Dave Free and Willie B popped up on various Kendrick projects, including both Section.80 and good kid, m.A.A.d. city.

Derek Ali

Better known as Mixed by Ali, Derek Ali is the engineer responsible for making sure tracks like “Backseat Freestye” sound pristine, while tracks like “Swimming Pools” get just the right amount of distortion.

Tabu Beats

Collectively, Rune Rask, Jonas Vestergaard form Tabu Beats. In addition to Kendrick Lamar’s “The Art Of Peer Pressure,” they’ve also done work with Crooked I and Horseshoe Gang.

Like of Pac Div

Like rose to prominence with Palmdale, California collective Pac Div. While tracks like “Mayor” and “Posted” created a cult-like following, Like’s work on “Sing About Me” helped bring him some overdue mainstream recognition.
