Chris Rock isn’t nervous about social topics in the new issue of New York magazine. Even though he’s technically promoting his new movie, Top Five, the 49-year-old comedian doesn’t just talk film stuff in the interview.

Rock gives his blunt opinion on race relations, Bill Cosby (he’s hoping that the rape allegations aren’t true), politics, and a bunch more. We highlighted 10 jewels that stood out.

Check out the quotes in the gallery.

“If poor people knew how rich rich people are, there would be riots in the streets.”

Hilarious.

“Being a comedian, 80 percent of the job is just you notice sh*t, which is a trait of schizophrenics too.”

Good to know.

“My children saved me from my miserable self.”

The joys of parenthood never sounded so candid.

“I’d do a special on race, but I’d have no black people.”

This is how Chris Rock would report from Ferguson, if he were a journalist.

“[President Obama is] Cooler than most politicians, not as cool as actual cool people.”

Absolutely.

“Everybody wanted Michael Jordan, right? We got Shaq. That’s not a disappointment.”

Does this sum up President Obama’s time in office?

“George Bush revolutionized the presidency. He was the first president who only served the people who voted for him. He literally operated like a cable network.”

Accurate.

“There’s an advantage that Bush had that Obama doesn’t have. People thinking you’re dumb is an advantage. Obama started as a genius.”

Interesting theory.

“Comedy’s really fair. It’s not like music, where you can hire Timbaland and he gives you a beat and a song, and even though you can’t sing it’s a hit.”

Timbaland might beg to differ.

“There are no race relations. White people were crazy. Now they’re not as crazy.”

That’s one way to put it.
