While Wendy Williams defended the success of the poorly received Aaliyah biopic, Timbaland was one of the insiders who made it clear he was not pleased. He stopped by The Breakfast Club to discuss the movie and more.
If you know the Virginia super producer well then you know he doesn’t do many interviews. With the outpouring of internet slander, Tim stepped up to clear the air on the film of his former friend and collaborator Aaliyah.
DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God got him to discuss the movie but also his choosiness when working with certain artists, the original “Movin’ Bass” and who really revived his musical spirit.
So we present the top 8 things we learned from The Breakfast Club Timbaland Interview. Do you think the Lauryn Hill comparisons to his artist Tink are justified? Sound off below.

2. Baby Girl
In the movie Aaliyah is talking to her record label president at a restaurant and asks to work with Missy and Timbaland. Tim says they actually created a demo song that she thought had potential and she asked them to fly out to collaborate in Detroit.
3. Casting
No one from the movie production crew reached out to him, Missy nor Aaliyah’s family before moving ahead with the film.
4. Direct Messages
The star of the movie Alexandra Shipp actually reached out to Timbaland via direct message on Instagram. While he did not point the blame on her he did offer her some sage advice of her doing her research next time.
5. Hot Like
The first song Timbaland and Missy worked with Aaliyah on was “Hot Like Fire”.
6. Choosy

8. Tink
The original version of “Movin’ Bass” featured Tink trading verses with both Jay Z and Rick Ross. We think Rick Ross should have kept this version. You can hear it no the next page; thank us later.
