There’s a new budding R&B singer, quietly ready to kill the game and her name is Tinashe. We’re already familiar with her hit single “2 On,”her debut album, Aquarius, came out last Tuesday (Oct. 7), and there’s much more about Tinashe than meets the eye.

The Breakout
Tinashe’s biggest hit thus far is “2 On” produced by DJ Mustard. The single is close to going gold and held the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Rhythmic Charts for a month.
Acting Chops
Tinashe starred in three episodes of the CBS sitcom Two & Half Men before taking a “hiatus” to focus on music. Fyi, she’s still on hiatus.
African Roots
Her father is from Zimbabwe, and the name “Tinashe” means “God is With Us” in his native tongue.

Before “2 On” Tinashe used to be Justin Bieber’s opening act.

After a stint with Columbia Records, Tinashe signed to RCA in 2011 and dropped three mixtapes leading up to her 2014 debut.

She definitely reps the West Coast but Tinashe was actually born in Kentucky. She moved to L.A. at age 8.

Like a lot of solo artist, Tinashe was once part of a larger collective. She spent four years in the girl group “The Stunners” before going solo.
