10. Fat Joe ft. French Montana, Rick Ross & Tiara Thomas – “Another Day”
Producer: Streetrunner & Macho TS
Joey Crack can always churn out a promising radio single. Hopefully this will make up for his slept-on “Pride and Joy” track.
9. DJ Premier ft. Lady Of Rage – “Chemical Burn”
Producer: DJ Premier
Clap it up one time for the veterans. The legendary Premo’s abilities as a producer go without saying, but we can’t say that we aren’t surprised that Lady of Rage’s pen is still this potent.
8. The Action Figures ft. Guilty Simpson “Hey Muthaf*cka”
Producer: Statik Selektah
Look no further if straight bars and beats are what you seek.
7. PARTYNEXTDOOR – “West District”
Producer: PARTYNEXTDOOR
While Drake’s “Far in the East” is still growing on us, PARTY’s version of the track was an immediate groove around these parts.
6. Nicki Minaj ft. Lil Herb – “Chi-raq”
Producer: Boi-1da, Vinylz & Allen Ritter
The YMCMB Barbie dropped the hardest song of the week. While “Lookin A** N***a” was strictly for the ladies, this jam is all inclusive.
5. Bas – “Charles De Gaulle To JFK”
Producer: Ron Gilmore
Dreamville’s Bas debuted our favorite song from him yet with this Last Winter sneak preview.
4. Raekwon – “The Living Room”
Producer: Illness
The Chef cooked up another lyrical feast on this cut. Long live The Wu, by the way.
3. Killer Mike – “The Boonies”
Producer: Alchemist
Killer Kill From Adamsville may not be a household name, but he’s far from slept on these days. That trend will continue if the ATLien delivers more material like this.
2. The Roots – “When The People Cheer”
Producer: The Roots
We already looked forward to The Roots’ second attempt at a making a concept LP, but our anticipation doubled after hearing this thoughtful tune.
1. Pharoahe Monch ft. Black Thought – “Rapid Eye Movement”
Producer: Marco Polo
Hip-Hop is a space that’s partially built on braggadocio, but it’s best that these young bloods play it cool with these two veteran MCs. You don’t want these problems, sir.
