Rapper turned reality television star Benzino was shot today (March 29) while on the way to the funeral of his mother in Boston. Born Raymond Scott, the Love & Hip Hop Atlanta cast member was driving a red Dodge SUV that got shot at by his nephew, Gai Scott, who reportedly was driving a Bentley.
According WCVB the shooting occurred on Route 3 in Duxbury, Mass. while Benzino was on the way to his mother’s funeral.
Benzino was the only gunshot victim. Reportedly his injury is non-fatal and he was taken to the Duxbury police station by a passerby before eventually being transported to South Shore hospital.
The Boston Globe reports that the procession was heading to St. Peter’s Church in Plymouth and although the family arrived late, the funeral did occur. The Plymouth County District Attorney, Timothy Cruz, issued a statement saying that the violence was sparked over an ongoing feud between Gai Scott and his uncle Benzino. The former fired several shots into the latter’s car.
Gai Scott has been arrested and will be charged with attempted murder.
Hip-Hop Wired hates to see anyone fall victim to senseless violence and sincerely wishes Benzino a speedy recovery. Of course, there are now pictures of Benzino recovering in the hospital, which you can see on the following pages.
