Former NFL star Darren Sharper has walked into a heaping mound of legal struggle after rape accusations attached to his name began to swirl about. Earlier today, a report was published stating that Sharper and an accomplice admitted to raping two women back in November thus adding a new wrinkle to the slowly unfolding case.
Sharper, who last worked as an analyst for the NFL Network, has been investigated by authorities in four states on suspicion that he may have raped as many as eight women and turned himself in last week.
Officials in New Orleans say they’ve been investigating the six-time All-Pro safety since last September where a sexual complaint was filed. From there, an avalanche of similar accusations from women around the country have rained down and it isn’t looking good for Sharper thus far.

September 2013
According to a report from USA Today, a sexual complaint was filed against Sharper on September 24, 2013 in New Orleans. A woman alleges she met Sharper at an event for New Orleans Saints players, Sharper’s former team, and went to a bar with him. She claims the next morning, she woke up in a haze with Sharper on top of her.
October 2013
In January of this year, Sharper was arrested on suspicion of rape in Los Angeles. One of the counts allegedly happened in October 2013 involving the date rape drug, zolpidem. Sharper met two women at a West Hollywood nightclub and offered them both a drink of “Coffee Petron” according to reports. One woman claims she woke up hours later with Sharper sexually assaulting with the other woman allegedly interrupting the act.
November 2013
Two women from Tempe, Ariz. say that they met with Sharper at a Scottsdale nightclub before returning to an apartment in Tempe. One woman says she woke the next day without her underwear without any recollection, and a third woman who was a roommate claims to have walked in on Sharper raping the other woman. The crime lab says they found traces of zolpidem on the scene.
January 2014
Sharper reportedly returned to the same West Hollywood nightclub and met two more women and invited them to his room. After accepting drinks from Sharper, one woman says she woke up later and believed she was sexually assaulted and sought treatment. The alleged assault took place on the evening of January 14 and Sharper was arrested in Los Angeles just days later.
The NFL Network suspended Sharper from his analyst position on January 18.
February 2014
Details began to emerge in the Arizona case, with the women saying one of them was drunk from the alleged tainted drink that she had to be helped up to their apartment. In the Tempe investigation, the crime lab tested glasses that Sharper used to make drinks and discovered that the sleep aid Ambien was visible in traces. Tempe detectives have been working with Los Angeles detectives in obtaining evidence although there has not been a public record of what was gained.
Sharper’s arraignment was held on Feb. 14, where he was officially charged for the two counts of sexual assault in Los Angeles.
This same month, Sharper was fired from the NFL Network without pay.
March 2013
TMZ Sports broke details of a story that Sharper admitted to New Orleans police that he, and a second suspect, Erik Nunez, had non-consensual sex with two women at his apartment who were “impaired” buy yet unknown means.
A line from the document read, “Through further investigation by the detectives it was learned that Nunez and Sharper admitted to other known witnesses that he and Sharper had vaginal and/or oral sex with victims #1 and #2 without their knowledge or permission.”
Sharper and Nunez were said to be seen by a witness to walk from Sharper’s bedroom in their boxers where the women were on September 23. Neither Sharper or Nunez have been charged in this matter.
