The death of Academy Award-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman by way of heroin overdose this past Sunday (February 2) shocked fans worldwide. Sadly, Hoffman’s struggles with addiction were known and he joins a growing list of celebrities who have succumbed to drug overdose.
Heroin use has been on the rise according to several reports, signaling a comeback of the highly addictive and dangerous substance. Nearly every facet of the entertainment industry has been affected by the use of the drug, which is essentially the pain medicine, morphine. Artists, singers, rappers, models and actors make up the body of those who have overdosed and died via heroin.
