Recording artists have many hustles. Clothing companies, liquor brands, mobile apps, restaurant chains and the list goes on. Another popular route is to go corporate.

Besides selling millions of copies of their work, many artists aspire to eventually create their own personal empire. Earlier today, January 8, DJ Drama of the famed Gangsta Grillz mixtape series announced he would be joining the Atlantic Records A&R staff.

But many rappers and even a couple of singers have taken desk jobs in hopes of diversifying their brands.

So we present 13 recording artists who have taken corporate jobs. Let us know in the comments section who you thought put in the best work behind the office doors.

Kurupt (Vice President Of Death Row Records)

After Dr. Dre, Tha Dogg Pound and Snoop Dogg left Death Row, Kurupt rejoined forces with Suge Knight in 2002 not only as an artist but as his executive V.P. His term was short-lived as he left the now defunct company in 2005.

Cam’ron (Vice President Of Roc-A-Fella Records)

Story has it that Dame Dash offered Cam’ron a vice president position at Roc-A-Fella. Being the show off that Killa naturally is, he went right to HOT 97 to announce job only to have it squashed by Jay-Z.

Jay Z (President Of Def Jam Records)

President Carter reigned supreme while at Def Jam Records with the signings of Nas, Rihanna and The-Dream just to name a few.

Snoop Dogg (Creative Chairman Of EMI Priority Records)

In 2009 the Boss Dogg took office at Priority Records which resulted in the release of his tenth album Malice N Wonderland.

Scarface (President Of Def Jam South Records)

As the president of South imprint, Face brought Ludacris to Def Jam Records. Lil’ Flip, T.I. and DJ Khaled were some of the artists Brad tried to sign but was unsuccessful.

Jim Jones (Director Of Warner Music Group; Vice President Of Koch Records)

Jones got fired from Warner Music Group and we are still wondering what he did exactly during his stint at Koch.

Lil Wayne (President Of Young Money Records)

While his business savvy was in serious question after staying with Cash Money, Young Money Records has turned out to be one of the most successful rap record labels with Drake, Nicki Minaj and Tyga on the roster.

Jeezy (Vice President Of Atlantic Records)

Last year Jeezy announced he accepted an offer to be the vice president of A&R at Atlantic Records. We are curious if his recent arrest would violate company policy though?

50 Cent (CEO Of G-Unit Records)

After the insane success of his debut album Get Rich Or Die Trying, he was offered his own label deal through Interscope Records.

Dr. Dre (CEO Of Aftermath Records)

After the success of The Chronic and 2001 who wouldn’t give Dre his own label deal? He has since delivered us Eminem and 50 Cent.

No I.D. (Vice President Of Def Jam Records)

The veteran producer by way of Chicago signed on as VP of Def Jam in 2011 and is still finding time to create Common’s new album. That boy good.

Ne-Yo (Vice President Of Motown Records)

After exiting Def Jam Records in 2010, the R&B singer announced he was signing to Motown Records as an artist and as the vice president of A&R.

Lil’ Jon (Vice President Of So So Def Records

Before he brought crunk to the masses, Lil’ Jon was an A&R at So So Def Records.
