It’s no secret that Wale is a big time football fan. Last night, the MMG rapper incorporated his fandom into his art by performing for the nation’s top high school football players at U.S. Army All-American Bowl kickoff party in San Antonio.
U.S. Army All-American Bowl showcases the 90 best high school football players in the nation in an East vs. West match up. As a special treat to the players in attendance, adidas brought in Wale as a surprise performer for an intimate concert.
Wale played high school football himself and earned a scholarship to Robert Morris University before he decided to pursue his Hip-Hop career instead. While rocking the stage, the “Lotus Flower Bomb” rapper was wearing Big Sean’s adidas “Detroit Player” Pro Model shoe.
The Roc Nation MC has been pretty busy lately on the music side. On Christmas Eve he dropped a new mixtape titled Folarin that is hosted by DJ Clark Kent. A couple of day later he dropped an all new song called “Heaven In The Afternoon.”
The U.S. Army All-American Bowl goes down Saturday, January 5 at 1pm at the Alamodome and will be broadcast live on NBC. Check out some photos of Wale’s performance in the gallery.
