Katt Williams is one funny dude, but his antics as of late are no laughing matter. Over the last few years the man who shot to fame as Money Mike in Friday After Next, has shown the public a whole other side of his personality.
Williams, worth an estimated $4.5 million, has put less energy into his comedy career and spent more time going off on people, getting into fights, and carrying a strap. TMZ is pretty much always on hand to break one story after the other depicting the Ohio native as a mentally unstable comedian, possibly acting out because of the pressures of fame. Null of being classified as being out of his mind (although he was sent to a mental hospital in 2008), the father of seven’s antics are not unlike some of his comedic colleagues and idols.
Since we don’t know exactly what it is that has been plaguing the 39-year-old as of late, rather than speculate Hip-Hop Wired has comprised a list that might make him feel better.
Take a look at six other comedians who took a ride on the crazy train, before Katt Williams decided to buy a one-way ticket.

Richard Pryor
In the book of comic legends, Richard Pryor will go down as one of the funniest performers in history, but it was his drug addiction that got him into trouble. In 1980 Pryor set himself on fire while freebasing cocaine. He suffered third-degree burns and spent six weeks in the hospital, but made light of the situation during his 1982 comedy show Richard Pryor: Live on the Sunset Strip.
Eddie Murphy
Listen, we’re not here to judge, but assuming that a married man shouldn’t be involved with a transs-xual prostitute , we’ll call this incident a lapse in judgment. Murphy was busted for picking up the “woman of the night,” (who ended up dying in 1998) but refused to own up to the reports, explaining that he was simply “being a nice guy,” for helping the person out. “I’ve seen hookers on corners and I’ll pull over and they’ll go, ‘Oh you’re Eddie Murphy, oh my God!’ and I’ll empty my wallet out to help.”
Yeah, okay.
Martin Lawrence
The T.V. show Martin is one of the funniest programs ever to grace your local listings—this is not up for debate. As for the show’s star, he showed an epic level of crazy in 1996 when he ran into traffic with a gun in his pocket, screaming and yelling at cars until he was arrested. Two years later he slipped into a coma after wearing too many clothes during a jog in the sweltering Southern California summer heat.
Dave Chappelle
We don’t really think Dave Chappelle went crazy, he just had enough of the foolish game that is stardom-but nonetheless he still deserves a spot on the list. After the success of Chappelle’s Show garnered him a $50 million contract from Comedy Central, Chappelle surprised everyone by walking away from the money and the public eye. In 2006 he sat down with Oprah to explain it all. “I wasn’t crazy but it was incredibly stressful,” he said. “When you’re a guy who generates money, people have a vested interest in controlling you.”
Now that he’s had a few years to chill out, one can only hope that he’ll pick up the comedy thing again—on a full time basis. No pressure though.
Mike Epps
Mke Epps had enough of his 18-year-old daughter and went in on her during a phone conversation. In his defense, she was being pretty disrespectful throwing insults his way, and in return he called her a “stupid b-tch,” among other colorful word choices.
Father knows best?
Tracy Morgan
Whenever sh-t gets awkward, people will always use the “freedom of speech” defense to excuse their actions. Tracy Morgan knew not to use this defense, when he unleashed an anti-gay rant during a stand up show. Be clear, everyone is entitled to their own opinion but Morgan’s tirade was so personal (he said he’d kill his son for being gay), that it came off weird and uncomfortable. After doing a little damage control the New York native bounced back, but maybe next time he should save such thoughts for his diary… instead of the stage.
