This Can’t Be Life: When Stage Crashing Goes Wrong
Let’s be honest, we’ve all gotten a little hype while at a concert of our favorite artist. If you’re not excited to see said artist perform, why pay for the ticket? Controlled enthusiasm is always encouraged. But, you never want to be “That Person,” that had a little too much fun and became a star on TMZ, MediaTakeout, and of course, Bossip.
In some instances we see fans that get so excited, that they decide to make an appearance on stage with their favorite performer. Sharing that moment with your new bff can go extremely wrong as seen in a recent report by TMZ when an overzealous fan jumped on stage to share a bond, hug, or some sort of WWE Wrestling move with DMX. Of all people DMX is probably the LAST artist you should attempt to jump on stage to greet. I guess X didn’t respond to that kite he sent him, while locked away in his most recent prison stint. While it wasn’t the smartest of decisions as you’ll see, I doubt he’d attempt it again. In the words of Kevin Hart, “You Gon’ Learn Today!”
Naturally, this made us think about some of the best & worst instances of Stage Crashing. Continue on to see what happens when fans decided to say hello to Weezy, Jay-Z, Kid Cudi, Snoop and more.
Possibly the trill-est reaction to a fan on stage goes to Pitbull. This fan was actually pulled onto the stage by the Miami Rapper, but decided to show out for the crowd…BAD IDEA!
A repeat victim of overzealous fandom is Kid Cudi. The first guy looks like he was caught in the moment and wanted to party with the Wizard. The second guy seemingly got under Cudder’s skin because his security handling the situation just wasn’t enough for the Cleveland native.
Wayne brought out Cory Gunz, for a high energy performance. Apparently a fan felt that energy (pause), and wanted to thank Lil Tunechi for the experience at the 4 minute mark.
Here we have a fan that had to be drunk, because I’m completely lost as to what he was thinking. Maybe he was trying to contribute to the “Gin ‘N Juice” that Snoop was passing around. We’ll just chalk this up to Y.O.L.O.
Then of course we have the Mother of all Stage Crashes! Everybody remembers that epic awkward moment at the MTV VMA’s when Lil Mama decided to aid Alicia Keys and Jay-Z in their rendition of “Empire State of Mind.” You can even see Jay try to flag her off the stage, but she just doesn’t get the point.
But perhaps the most priceless moment, was Lil Mama’s interview with MTV on why & how it happened. You can feel the discomfort and complete awkwardness throughout the video. It’s actually funny as to how dramatic it seems. You’d think she was trying to clear her name after being caught up in a s*x scandal, a la Robert Kelly. Still not sure if Lil Mama was drinking that night, but she was surely sipping a 40 oz. size bottle of Fail-Sauce!
