With the rumor that Busta Rhymes is signing with record label Young Money Cash Money, the internet has been buzzing on whether or not they think this deal is a good one.

However, this isn’t the first confusing and attention grabbing Hip-Hop record deal as of late.

2011 was a strange year for Hip-Hop signings, and reminded us that sometimes a label will spend millions of dollars on a rapper who doesn’t even have an album or mixtape.

On August 24, 2006, Papoose signed a record deal with Jive Records worth $1.5 million.

In 2008, Jay had signed one of the largest contracts ever after signing a contract with Live Nation worth $150 million.

According to International Business Times, the deal included an upfront payment of $25 million, a general advance of $25 million, and an advance payment of $10 million an album for a minimum of three albums during a ten year period.
