While some of the biggest names in Hip-Hop have come together to form some major supergroups or make some super announcements, sometimes words are simply just words.
While albums like Detox and I Can’t Feel My Face sounded exciting when they were first announced, years later and dozens of release dates later has clued most of us that the album will be out when pigs fly.
If it sounds too good to be true in the Hip-Hop game, then it most likely is. Peep the page #’s below to see the list of the best albums that you may never get to hear.
Game – “R.E.D. Album “
The Game announced his 4th album in 2009, and 2 years later he is still announcing his 4th album.
While Interscope seems to always have their hand in albums that never seemed to get released, banned music videos and pointless twitter beefs aren’t helping Game convince anyone different.
Even though there is still a possibility that the album could indeed be released August 23rd of this year, (as it’s previously stated) 2 confirmed tracks in 2 years is not a good ratio.
Andre 3000 – “Solo Album”
I hope y’all enjoyed “The Love Below,” because that may be the only solo album we are ever getting from Andre.
Even though he teases us with his story telling singles, remix appearances, and a leaked track every once in awhile, is Andre 3000 really making progress on a solo album?
Big Boi did his album and had to pretty much market the damn thing himself.
Stop getting on remixes with glittery pop stars, and give your fans a reason to back up putting you in the top 5 of all time.
Lil Wayne/Juelz Santana – “I Can’t Feel My Face”
Even if this album were to drop, would it even be relevant?
About as relevant as Lil Wayne/ T-Pain’s (T-Wayne)Â anticipated album “He Raps, He Sings .”
While a collaboration album from Wayne would be nice, your best bet is to hope that Drake and Wayne put out that collaboration album faster than Kanye and Jay-Z have.
Kanye West/ Jay-ZÂ – “Watch The Throne”
Speaking of the devils, or devil worshipers if you believe that whole ordeal, when is Watch The Throne dropping again?
It’s obviously not March which Kanye originally said to E! when he was feeling a little too good.
The album was originally an 5 track EP, so there is definitely music there, but a whole album?
If y’all want an excuse to party across Europe then don’t tease about it with Lex Luger Apocalyptic instrumentals!
All City Chess Club
Wale has moved on, J.Cole is still prolonging his album, and Charles Hamilton is somewhere in Harlem huffing glue and peeing on himself.
Even if this group did manage to drop some kind of an album, it wouldn’t be like one imagined when the announcement was made early last year.
HBIC (Remy Ma, Shawnna, Jacki-O)
In early 2007 after word leaked that they had recorded several songs together, this three headed monster decided to put out an album together.
However, if your hair is not Pink, your A$$ is not as big as your career, and your name is not Nicki Minaj, then you can forget about another female emcee doing damage right now.
Lupe, Kanye, & Pharrell – “CRS (Child Rebel Soldier)”
2 songs in 4 years though?!
While Lupe fights to put out 1 album, Kanye is trying to do 98459, and Pharrell is just chilling.
If an album is announced my freshman year of college and hasn’t made any advancements by my graduation, then I think it’s time to hang up on one of the most anticipated albums.
Center Edge Territory
In November 2009 after several studio sessions at Dame Dash’s DD172 facility, someone had the brilliant ideas to do a collaboration album with Curren$y, Jay Electronica, and Mos Def.
However, that person obviously forgot the people who he was talking about.
Jay Electronica has become the king of releasing no more than one song every 5 months, Mos Def seems to be interested in that TV money a little more than that music money these days, and although Curren$y does put out enough music to make up for the other two, this idea was just one that was never going to work.
If y’all are doing an album, can we get this J.E.T. moving a little bit faster?!
Jay Electronica
If an album from Jay Electronica does come out, then I truly do hope it’s “Historical.”
Despite what it seems, I will still hope and dream that the 849584 months of waiting will pay off when I have a retail store album from Jay Elechannukah.
Mazel Tov!
Dr. Dre -“Detox”
Dr. Dre’s Detox has only provided Hip-Hop with many metaphors and jokes within the last 10 years.
Anyone who is still refreshing Google news with the phrases Dr. Dre or Detox, are simply just torturing themselves at this point.
Even if Detox were to magically release, after all of this waiting, do you honestly think we will be satisfied with the sound?!
If Dre does release Detox, it better be the best album OF ALL TIME!
