We did it again, America. Last night, The United States Of America re-elected Barack Obama to his second term as President.
Now that the campaign is done, it’s time to keep it all the way real. There is only so much that policies, campaigning and all of that can do. At the end of the day, President Obama is just way more cooler than Mitt Romney ever was.
In fact, Barack Obama may not only be the coolest President of all-time, he’s one of the coolest people we may have ever seen. Do you need some proof? This week’s Wired 25 takes a look at the Commander-In-Chief’s coolest moments before he gets sworn in for a second presidential term.

25. “Our kids can’t all aspire to be the next LeBron or Lil Wayne”
The Notorious B.I.G. once said the only way out the hood is if you’re slinging crack rock or got a wicked jumpshot. The fact that we have a black president pretty much debunked that theory in this epic speech.
“They might think that they’ve got a pretty good jump shot or a pretty good flow, but our kids can’t all aspire to be the next LeBron or Lil Wayne,” said the President. “I want them aspiring to be scientists and engineers, doctors and teachers, not just ballers and rappers. I want them aspiring to be a Supreme Court justice. I want them aspiring to be president of the United States.”
24. President Obama Sits Down With Sway Calloway
The campaign trail is usually tricky. While most presidential candidates must make that trek around the typical news stations, it is usually the Democrats that have the youth vote on lock. But nobody in the history of this country has ever put the youth and specifically black vote in a figure four leg lock quite like B.O.
This was made evident when he invited Sway (with Sway Hat in tow) to the White House.
23. President Obama Stops Campaign To Help Hurricane Sandy Victims
Where former President Bush and ultimately Mitt Romney failed is their reaction to natural disasters. George W. Bush famously let New Orleans go to s**t before finally arriving with aid to New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina, but Obama was in the ravaged areas of New Jersey hours after the storm ended.
Immediately going into action, the commander in chief canceled scheduled campaign appearances as of October 29th, stating that his focus was not on the election but the “impact on families.”
22. President Obama Covers EBONY’s “25 Coolest Brothers Of All Time”
Talk about swag on one thousand trillion. We all knew that Barack was a smooth cat, but this cover of EBONY Magazine certified it. In an issue dedicated to “Black Cool,” there was the leader of the free world. With some fresh Ray-Ban’s on, stepping out of the motorcade like he’s about to be followed by Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky and Mike. Not to mention he shared covers with fellow immaculately cool folks like Jay-Z, Prince, Denzel Washington and Marvin Gaye.
21. President Obama Unites Hip-Hop
Rappers are notoriously suspicious of the government, and with good reason. However, The Commander And Chief galvanized the Hip-Hop community like no politician before him. All of your rappers could hate each others guts, but one thing they all agree on is that they love Barack.
20. President Obama Shouts Out Young Jeezy
Whenever President Obama does something like this, it is almost like an inside joke that the Hip-Hop community is in on that the stuffy suits of the government just don’t understand. That’s why he’s our president.
“In my first term I sang Al Green. In my second term, I’m going with Young Jeezy,” he said getting a laugh from the crowd from the dinner. “Michelle said ‘yeah,’ I sing that to her sometimes.”
Yeeeeeeaaaaaah!
19. President Obama Responds To Nicki Minaj (Or Roman’s) Endorsement Of Mitt Romney
Nicki Minaj caused a stir when she said she was supporting Mitt Romney on Lil Wayne’s Dedication 4. In typical “chill, I got this” fashion, Obama let’s Nicki slide and even gave her a smooth cop out.
She likes to play different characters,” he said. “So I don’t know what’s going on there.” President Obama was also asked if his daughters, Sasha and Malia, listen to Nicki Minaj to which he responded “I don’t think they really listen to Nicki Minaj that much.”
18. President Obama Busts A Two-Step To Beyonce on Ellen.
While on his first campaign trail and still a Senator in Chicago, a youthful looking Obama was a guest on Ellen. As with most guests on the show, you’ve got to be able to bust a move once you make an entrance, and the future Commander-In-Chief obliged. Middle-aged white women everywhere were sold.
17. President Obama Stops Mid-Speech To Dance To “Drop It Like It’s Hot.”
If Dave Chappelle’s theory proves correct, black people will stop and dance whenever certain music is played. Our president was no different. Not only did he get his RapGenius on by explaining the hook to Snoop Dogg and Pharrell’s jam, but he got a chick little shimmy in as well. When the pimps in the crib ma…
16. President Obama Kills A Fly Mr. Miyagi-style
It wasn’t exactly catching a fly with chopsticks, but this is still pretty cool. As a persistent fly was bothering Obama during an interview, he let his ninja skills spring into action and smacked a fly dead on sight. If you can pull this off in front of any female, she’s yours. I’m sure that’s in the Bible somewhere.
15. “I was actually black before the election.”
Some people tried to condemn President Obama for his deadpan style reactions to Mitt Romney in the last debate. But here he is with the king of deadpan, David Letterman, responding to his blackness. “How long have you been a black man,” Letterman asks hilariously.
14. President Obama Orders Stephen Colbert To Shave His Head
General Ray Odierno, a four star general in the United States Army was a guest on Stephen Colbert’s The Colbert Report. Taking place as a part of the USO initiatives, the show was delivered specifically for soldiers. Colbert wanted to be a soldier, but refused an order from the General to cut his hair. That is, until the President stepped in.
13. Diddy Interviews Barack Obama
Back when Barack Obama was elected to be Senator of Illinois and Diddy was on his “vote Or Die” campaign, the two crossed paths in this rare interview with MTVNews. Even back then, you can tell that this guy had a bright future.
12. Beyonce Pens Letter To Barack Obama
Okay, this isn’t necessarily cool per se, but we just think these Beyonce letters are hilarious. We can’t be the only people who read these letters in our best Beyonce voice, right?
11. President Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize
Only a few months into his presidency, Barack Obama won the coveted Nobel Peace Prize. Why? Cause he can, son. Deal with it.
10. President Obama Takes White House Party Crashers In Stride
Not everything goes smooth with Barack. When two relative unknowns crashed a White House dinner party, comedians had a field day with it. “The Secret Service is in a lot of hot water after what happened. But I think give the Secret Service a break. When the Secret Service heard there was a crazy couple in White House, they just assumed it was the Bidens,” said Craig Ferguson.

9. President Obama Gets Osama bin Laden Murked
Under President Obama’s watch, one of the most evil men to ever live was hunted and brought to justice. Osama bin Laden was responsible for the horrific terrorism attacks on the United States on September 11th, 2001 along with countless other violent acts across the globe. The #1 most wanted man on the FBI’s list was brought down in a brave act of heroism last spring. In typical cool dude fashion, Obama didn’t start the fight, but made sure he ended it. Justice was done.
8. President Obama Cracks Jokes At The White House Correspondents Dinner
The White House Correspondents Dinner is usually a laid back affair. In the yearly occasion, the Prez gets to show off his trademark comedic timing in this speech which is essentially a stand-up act. Pause for laughter.
7. President Obama Chooses Jay-Z as The Better Half Of “The Throne”
In an interview with The Atlantic, President Obama answered the one question that was on the minds of all people in the summer of 2011.
“Kanye or Jay-Z?”
The president smiles. “Jay-Z,” he says, as if the answer should be obvious.
“Although I like Kanye,” Obama continues, with an easy smile. “He’s a Chicago guy. Smart. He’s very talented.” He is displaying his larger awareness of the question, looking relaxed, cerebral but friendly, alive to the moment, waiting for me to get to the heart of the matter.
“Even though you called him a jackass?,” I ask.
“He is a jackass,” Obama says, in his likable and perfectly balanced modern-professorial voice. “But he’s talented.”
6. President Obama Calls Kanye West A Jackass
Did we mention that the President called Kanye West a jackass? Well, the President called Kanye West a jackass. Next time he’ll just relax when people win awards (even though Kanye was right, but that’s another argument for another day).
5. President Obama Gives Jay-Z And Beyonce Parenting Advice
Listen, whether you want to admit it or not, everybody cares about Jay-Z and Beyonce’s kid. Everybody. For real.
4. President Obama Says American Gangster is his favorite Jay-Z Album
President Obama admits to being an old school guy, but he does enjoy some Hip-Hop. He admits to being a Jay-Z fan. “I enjoy the art of Hip-Hop, but I don’t always enjoy the message.” Barack, like most things is on point with what he loves and doesn’t love about Hip-Hop in this interview.
He also mentions that American Gangster is his favorite Jay-Z album because it tells a story and Jay “got flow.”
3. Young Jeezy and Nas drop “My President Is Black.”
Whether you want to admit it or not, it’s hard to tell where the youth vote would be if it wasn’t for this anthem. We all know we played this song in 2008 in our Blue Lambos (okay, maybe not the Lambos…).
2. Jay-Z Performs At Final Rally For President Obama
We never thought that Hip-Hop would take it this far. We’ve said that a lot…but this far? Still pretty incredible.
1. President Obama Dusts His Shoulders Off
It was simple. It was efficient. It was effective. Behold, the coolest President of all-time.
