PBS is known for its many documentaries, but February promises to be something even more special than usual as Oscar-winning Actress Halle Berry has agreed to host a documentary of monumental proportions.
Dubbed “For Love of Liberty: The Story of America’s Black Patriots, the two part, four-hour documentary will give an excitingly intimate look at the lives, times, and struggles of America’s Black servicemen since the genesis of our nation. Letters, speeches, diaries, and sources were used to unearth the stories of America’s most brave, yet forgotten, citizens with historical accounts spanning from the Revolutionary War to the current Middle Eastern conflicts.
“Our goal is to raise public consciousness about this extraordinary and little-known aspect of our nation’s history,” said Frank Martin, producer, director, and co-writer of the film.
Other stars involved in the project include Mel Gibson, Morgan Freeman, Danny Glover, Jeffrey Wright, Susan Sarandon, and John Amos.
