The same organization that was co- founded by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is adding a member of his blood line to their ranks through their election of his daughter Rev. Bernice King as their new President.
Bernice King was announced as the new leader of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference early Friday morning. Administrators for the organization held a meeting Thursday to discuss candidates before formally announcing their selection.
Bernice is the first woman elected to the position in its 52-year-history.
Martin Luther King Jr. was the SCLC’s first president from 1957 until his death in 1968.
Way to follow in your daddy’s footsteps, girl!
