Artists Who Predicted The Future

There is something spooky about someone being able to predict the future.

Whether it be something as simple as predicting the time the mailman will come or something as serious as prophesying their own death, seeing a premonition come into fruition can be a hair-raising experience.

Believe it or not, intentionally or unintentionally a few artists have gotten their Nostradamus on.

We found five artists who’ve proved that they have the ability to predict the future…or not.

Jay-Z – “Money, Cash, Hoes” – Vol 2…Hard Knock Life

“Sh^t, I led a life you can write a book on/Sex, murder, mayhem, and romance for the streets/Man and I’ll tell ya, it’ll be a best seller.”

When he spit these lyrics in 1998, Hov may have had a better chance of getting booked than writing a book. But in November 2010, the rapper turned co-author’s first hardcover, Decoded landed at the #3 spot on the New York Times best-sellers list. If anyone knows when, Kingdom Comes it might be Jay.

2Pac – “If I Die Tonight” – Me Against The World

“I hope they bury me and send me to my rest/Headlines reading Murdered to Death, my last breath.”

Pac had a number of eerily prophetic bars but this particular foreshadowing of his own demise may be the most ominous.

Young Jeezy – “My President Is Black” – The Recession

“My President is black.”

Hey, this wasn’t exactly a Nostradamus prediction, but at the time this song was made there were no guarantees that the future Commander In Chief would be of color. Maybe the Snowman has a crystal ball.

Jimi Hendrix – “The Ballad of Jimi”

“Many things he would try, for he knew he’d soon die… Now Jimi’s gone, he’s not alone, his memory lives on… Five years, this he said. He’s not gone he’s just dead.”

Hendrix died 3 years after recording this tune. Though he states at the beginning of the song that the lyrics are about his friend coincidently name “Jimi,” he also adds, “this is my story,” toward the end. Prophetic purple haze.

Busta Rhymes – “Against All Odds” – Extinction Level Event

“None of you n^gg^s really want to war/The type to fly a plane into your building in the name of Allah.”

We almost don’t even want to touch this one for fear that we may end up on some black list. This isn’t a pinpoint prophecy either. But the fact is Bussa Buss spit these eerily foretelling lyrics in 1998. Did we mention 9/11 didn’t happen until three years later. The next time we want to know, When Disaster Strikes, we might want to hit up Mr. Rhymes.
